Ultra Soffit Insulation Liner Rockfibre
Ultra Soffit Liner Rockfibre is a non-combustible rigid mineral wool rockfibre insulation board for installation to the underside of concrete soffits. It is suitable for use for in domestic and commercial applications and can be fixed directly to the underside of concrete slabs, or to timber or metal framing systems using appropriate fixings.
The soffit insulation board is available in a range of facings including a 6mm thick non-combustible cement fibre board, class 0 aluminium foil, and white or black tissue. The product can also supplied as a plain slab with no facings.
Depending on the U value requirement, the product is available in a range of thicknesses. Larger thicknesses may consist of multiple layers of rockfibre laminated together. Alternatively the insulation can be supplied as a multiple layer to be fixed separately.

Installation Guidelines
The soffit insulation boards should be mechanically fixed directly to the soffit or soffit frame. Fixings should be at maximum 600mm centres, positioned between 50mm and 150mm from the board edge and the fixing should penetrate the substrate by minimum of 25mm.
The boards should be tightly butted together at joints. Boards with the cement fibre facing should be cut on site using a TCT saw. The plain or foil/tissue faced boards can be cut with a fine-toothed hand saw. Cutting boards will produce some dust so use of a face mask is recommended.
Direct Fixing To Concrete Soffit
- Fix the Ultra Soffit Liner board directly to the underside of the semi-exposed soffit using proprietary fixings.
- Use fixings at nominal 600mm centres around the edge and throughout the board.
- The length of fixing is determined by the board thickness and the fixing manufacturer’s load-bearing recommendations.
Fixing To Metal Framing Timber Battens
- When using MF system framing, fix the frame to the soffit as per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
- Fix the Ultra Soffit Liner at right angles to the MF top hat sections at nominal 600mm centres around the edges and throughout the board.
- When using timber battens, these must be fixed at maximum 600mm centres and ensure that all four edges of the board are supported.
- Fixings must be allowed to penetrate a minimum of 25mm into the timber.

Handling and Storage
Ultra Soffit Liner board is supplied packed on pallets. The boards need to be stored off the ground and clear of standing water. If stored outside, additional protective covering is recommended to prevent the boards becoming wet. Boards should be kept dry until installation.
Environmental Properties
Ultra Soffit Liner boards offer no threat to the environment and have zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). The global warming potential (GWP) of the rockfibre insulation is zero.
Fire Properties
The Ultra Soffit Liner Rockfibre insulation product has been independently tested at Warrington Fire Research Centre to EN 13501-1 and achieves a Euroclass A2,1,dO non-combustible fire rating.
